Jesse Ryder out of the induced coma - Latest Cricket News 2013

Jesse Ryder out of the induced coma, says the manager of New Zealand cricketer

Jesse Ryder is in an induced coma and talking, according to the manager of New Zealand cricketer, Aaron Klee.

Ryder, the Wellington 28-year-old all-rounder, was admitted to a hospital in Christchurch in the early hours of Thursday morning after suffering multiple injuries, including a fractured skull in an attack outside a bar. He was in a critical condition and was put into an induced coma, but Friday Klee said Ryder was stable and that doctors had given a thumbs up.

On Saturday Klee said: "Jesse's condition has improved to the point that it is now out of the coma and fan off Jesse is awake and talking to us, but obviously still working through the immediate effects of being in the coma. medicines and medical equipment have been using.

"Naturally, we are very excited with this progress. This is just the beginning of the recovery process of Jesse, and there is still a battle ahead to full health, but progress is positive."

Police investigating the incident confirmed Friday two men - a 20 year old and 37 years old who are related - to appear in court on April 4 after being charged with assault.

Ryder Police believe he was involved in an altercation with two people outside Aikmans bar in the suburb of Merivale Christchurch shortly after 12:30 a.m. Local on Thursday morning, and then was assaulted by one of the two, who followed him to the parking lot of a nearby McDonald.

Ryder, a controversial figure whose career has been plagued by off-field incidents, is on an indefinite break from international cricket and has not played for New Zealand since February last year. He has admitted in the past that alcohol contributed to his problems off the field, and confirmed that he was drinking with his teammates Wellington at the bar before being attacked.

Ryder has played 18 tests and 39 one-day internationals for the Black Caps, his last appearance in an ODI against South Africa.

He played on Wednesday for the Wellington Firebirds in the preliminary final against the Canterbury Wizards in the main Hagley Oval and planned to travel to India this week to compete for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.
